HONEYMOON DAY 1

After what felt like weeks of planning, organizing, and socializing, it was time for Jake and I to head off to Jasper for a quiet week of exploring, climbing, golfing, and of course reconnecting just us two.

As many of you know, my organization skills can be somewhat intense, as in I like to have everything in order, and I like to have everything ready when needed. That being said, a few days before we were set to take off on our honeymoon, we received some pretty sad news; the RV that we had planned to take up to Jasper was not starting and we would have to resort to plan B. Well I did not have a plan B, and with many wedding tasks to do still I decided we were just going to have to tent it and suck it up!

Our rainy, but perfect wedding day came, and my best friend Courtney along with her boyfriend Taylor presented Jake and I with a card and told us that we needed to open it immediately; and what I read simply shocked me!

Not only had they organized for us to take their family RV for the week, they also gifted us a GMC Sierra for the week to tow the RV and explore Jasper.

*cue waterworks (which I'm actually quite positive our photographer captured on film)*

So, to Court and Tay: thank-you for working so hard to make sure that we still got to have the honeymoon that we planned, I couldn't imagine a better set-up. We are so lucky to have you guys, we love you!

💗💙💚💛💜

Sunday, June 17, we packed up the trailer with their help, and Monday morning we were on the road bright and early!

We were yet again, blessed with a gorgeous day for a drive, and an even more gorgeous route to take! If you have never driven the Icefields Parkway, come out to Alberta and we'll take you. There is a reason it is considered one of the most scenic drives in the WORLD.

Cascade Mountain, Banff.

Weeping Wall, Icefield Parkway.
Checked off the bucket list!

Barely put my camera down the whole drive, can you blame me?!

This is God's Country.

That's my husband who drove the whole way, so I could gawk and stare out the window! I am one lucky duck!!! 💗💗💗

After a few hours, we finally reached Jasper!

Our campsite at Pochahontas Campground was about 1/2 hour north of the town site, so we trekked on.

When we finally got all set up, it was time for a couple celebration drinks, and of course wildlife searching. Somehow at our sites, I always get paid a visit from some sort of small animal, and this time was no different!

Although it is posted everywhere, please understand the important of not feeding the wildlife! It's hard not to I get it, they're so cute, but they need to remain wild in order to remain alive.
So please, again, don't be the explorer who puts an animal at risk by feeding them. Instead, observe, admire from a distance, and then leave them be.

Being one who is unable to sit for too long, after a drink, a full set-up, and stretch, I lobbied to go explore a nearby waterfall that was just down the road from our campsite. Being both from Ontario, we are both water loving souls, so the convincing wasn't all that hard.

This small creek has eroded a couple of nicely shaped bowls into the rock, creating Punch Bowl Falls.

There is a wooden boardwalk that overlooks the creek, however I chose to put on my water shoes and explore the river up close and personal.

This creek can be followed all the way back to our campground, but due to the fact that we were in bear country, and I did not have the bear spray, I chose to wander for a few minutes and then return.

I contemplated even putting this photo in, as I look like a small child who just received a pony on Christmas morning but then it dawned on me; this is how exploring the mountains with Jake makes me feel, and there's nothing to be ashamed of.

💕

The rear view of Punch Bowl Falls. It's pretty surreal to stand at the top and feel the power of the water as it plummets through the rock. Mother Nature is such a powerful force, and often not respected as she should be, in my opinion anyways!

Well friends, that's all for today, but what a beautiful foreshadow for the week to come.

We were two exhausted travelers who need a good night's sleep, because the next day we celebrate Jake's 30th birthday!!!!
Cannot wait to share photos of the rest of our adventures

xoxo

10 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED

If you're anything like me, you have a real soft spot for animals, especially those who haven't been treated fairly. Ever felt helpless, wondering what you can do to help?  Well lucky for you, I've got a list of 10 easy things you can do to make a real difference in the lives of the animals who need your help.  (this little guy was named Samson. A volunteer from  Megan's Rescue Efforts  called about a tiny little pup they found who was in terrible shape! This photo was taken during Samson's first few days at the rescue. Wait until you see the handsome pup he was transformed into!!) 1. ADOPT Although this seems like a no brainer, it still needs to be said. There are hundreds of animals waiting in a shelter to find their forever homes, and believe it or not, there are purebreds as well. Staff and volunteers work tirelessly to learn the personalities of each animal, and work to make the best matches between adopter and animal. This is a life time commitm...

ZOO DAY WITH MOM, DAD, AND FUTURE HUBS!

If you have visited Jake and I in Calgary, chances are we have taken you to the Zoo! This set of special visitors was no different; my mom and dad got to accompany us on a Zoo excursion, and I'm always proud to show people a place that I hold close to my heart.  My mom and dad have gone to the zoo with us before, but this time they got to see the pandas, the "grown up" Kimani, and the 7ft tall Narobi! Hope you enjoy a few photos from the day, I surely enjoyed taking them.  With crowds of people, these are the only panda bear photos I have that made the cut; keep an eye out, I am sure to return!  Mom and dad watching the red pandas as they tromped through the grass.  These little guys are always good for a laugh, always so curious about their surroundings.  My beautiful Narobi, all grown up! A mama and her babies, hidden from most of the crowds but spotted by my dad's keen eye.  A teen...

ZOO DAY

If you have ever visited us in Calgary, chances are we've been to the zoo. I love learning about the animals in the care, the work they do in the wild, and the animals that they save from destruction when there is injury or conflict with humans that render them unable to exist in the wild.  Below are some photos that I took during our trip today. Most of the animals were in their indoor enclosures, or hibernating but I did get some good shots to share.  One of my favorite photos I have ever taken at the zoo.  At the request of my dear mom, I took multiple photos of the hilarious panda bears.  Not-so-little Kimani was quite the trickster today. She was running around full tilt when we got there, they she began climbing along the ropes, and finished off her spurt of energy by pestering her aunt.   To our sheer excitement, our visit to the wolf enclosure was at the exact right moment! When we showed up, o...
