Sunday Funday began with a calling from the mountains. If you know me well enough, you know it's a call that is rarely ignored. Unfortunately, Jake and I have been under the weather the last couple weeks, so it was up to me to choose an area to explore that was breathtaking, yet still not too strenuous. After much consideration, I chose Highwood Pass, and the meadows that surround it. Fun fact: Highwood Pass is the highest paved pass in Canada. At the summit, it measures 7239 feet above sea level. It lies West of Mt. Rae and Mt. Arethusa of the Misty Range, and South of the Elbow Pass. It is located within the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park on Alberta Highway 40. Once I got my tourist photo with the Pass sign, we headed into Highwood Meadows. Highwood Meadows is a short, barrier free trail that starts from the Highwood Pass day use area.
