SUNDAY FUNDAY WITH VIVIAN AND JAKE

It has been a while since our last adventure, so we decided today was the perfect day to get some quality self-care time in the books before Jake heads out of town for work again.
Following the most up-and-down Summer of our lives, our Fall didn't slow down much at all with school, starting my own cleaning business, starting practicum, and Jake's work getting super busy, taking him out of town.
With that said, the snow finally melted (somewhat), and the temperature warmed up, so it was a perfect day to grab an adventure partner, and explore a part of Fish Creek Park that we have never been to.

We messaged Megan, suited up for an adventure and picked up sweet Vivian (pictured above).
Vivian is a 7 month old pup who was picked up in Morley, suspected of being dumped by her previous owners. We don't know much of her back story, but we are determined to help her create a more adventurous, happy, and loving future.

Throughout the car ride, Vivian sat in the back of the truck gazing out the window. Unlike some others we have taken on an adventure, we did not need to use the seat belt buckle, as we did not have any issues with her trying to climb up to the front seat, or jump out the window; she was just a happy pup along for the ride.

Once we arrived at Fish Creek, I loaded my pockets with treats, we grabbed our coffees, and we were off on our trek through the woods. We began at the Marshall Springs, and looped through the Bebo Groove. Our walk was about 2 1/2 hours, with the temperature reaching t-shirt weather. All-in-all it was a gorgeous day, with a gorgeous pup.

Although she is currently not yet available, keep checking out Megan's Rescue Efforts for more information about her and other adoptables looking for their forever home!

Without further adieu, enjoy some photos of our adventure day. Feel free to share/re-post, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate. If I do not know the answer, I will direct you to someone who does!

Happy adventuring friends.

There were so many smells and sounds for Vivian to experience today. Although she was a bit nervous at first, she was quite happy to explore with us.

Just getting a quick drink, and dipping her paws in.

Look at those eyes!

Such a gorgeous girl!

We were surrounded by such gorgeous colours all day.

Watching the birds fly by.

This girl absolutely LOVES cuddles and kisses. During our adventure, she often stopped to plant a big ol' kiss on Jake, and sneak in for a cuddle and a pat. She loved adventuring, but she loved being around people even more. Sadly, as our adventure progressed it became evident how weary people were around Vivian. We had people walk as far away as they could from her, even when she wasn't looking for attention from them. Vivian often attempted to approach people, tail waggin', only to be met with people who moved as far away from her as they could. It makes my heart sad that such a loving pup instills fear in people that judge her based on her appearance, but it just means that we have work to do to help change that stigma.

Not a bad way to spend the day. Thankful for all the pups that we get to spend time with, and for all the adventures we all share.

Til next time friends,
xoxo char hazzard

10 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED

If you're anything like me, you have a real soft spot for animals, especially those who haven't been treated fairly. Ever felt helpless, wondering what you can do to help?  Well lucky for you, I've got a list of 10 easy things you can do to make a real difference in the lives of the animals who need your help.  (this little guy was named Samson. A volunteer from  Megan's Rescue Efforts  called about a tiny little pup they found who was in terrible shape! This photo was taken during Samson's first few days at the rescue. Wait until you see the handsome pup he was transformed into!!) 1. ADOPT Although this seems like a no brainer, it still needs to be said. There are hundreds of animals waiting in a shelter to find their forever homes, and believe it or not, there are purebreds as well. Staff and volunteers work tirelessly to learn the personalities of each animal, and work to make the best matches between adopter and animal. This is a life time commitm...

ZOO DAY WITH MOM, DAD, AND FUTURE HUBS!

If you have visited Jake and I in Calgary, chances are we have taken you to the Zoo! This set of special visitors was no different; my mom and dad got to accompany us on a Zoo excursion, and I'm always proud to show people a place that I hold close to my heart.  My mom and dad have gone to the zoo with us before, but this time they got to see the pandas, the "grown up" Kimani, and the 7ft tall Narobi! Hope you enjoy a few photos from the day, I surely enjoyed taking them.  With crowds of people, these are the only panda bear photos I have that made the cut; keep an eye out, I am sure to return!  Mom and dad watching the red pandas as they tromped through the grass.  These little guys are always good for a laugh, always so curious about their surroundings.  My beautiful Narobi, all grown up! A mama and her babies, hidden from most of the crowds but spotted by my dad's keen eye.  A teen...

ZOO DAY

If you have ever visited us in Calgary, chances are we've been to the zoo. I love learning about the animals in the care, the work they do in the wild, and the animals that they save from destruction when there is injury or conflict with humans that render them unable to exist in the wild.  Below are some photos that I took during our trip today. Most of the animals were in their indoor enclosures, or hibernating but I did get some good shots to share.  One of my favorite photos I have ever taken at the zoo.  At the request of my dear mom, I took multiple photos of the hilarious panda bears.  Not-so-little Kimani was quite the trickster today. She was running around full tilt when we got there, they she began climbing along the ropes, and finished off her spurt of energy by pestering her aunt.   To our sheer excitement, our visit to the wolf enclosure was at the exact right moment! When we showed up, o...
